Here are some facts about ageing
skin that you probably didn’t know until now—
- Generally, prominent changes in skin due to ageing start reflecting in the sixth decade of human life that is around your 60s.
- Skin ageing and conditions related to it can be determined by categorizing the process into two sections: First is the intrinsic skin ageing—this is the natural ageing process, wherein the changes occur as per internal factors of your body, such as genetics, immunity, nutrients, etc. On the other hand, the second process of ageing is the extrinsic skin ageing, wherein the changes are reflected through external factors, generally from the environment such as sun exposure, UV rays, lifestyle such as intake of alcohol, smoking, etc, most of which result in photo ageing.
- When it comes to intrinsic type of ageing, your body’s overall skin is affected, whereas in extrinsic skin ageing, only those areas which are frequently exposed to sun are affected, such as face, neck and your hands.
- Smoking cigarettes have a direct impact on your ageing process as intake of tobacco causes your skin cells to break down sooner than normal.
- Damage due to skin ageing has a list of symptoms for one to identify the problem, such as wrinkles, too much dryness, pigmentations and also rough texture.
- A normal ageing person is bound to have a few wrinkles as an evidence of the process of ageing. However, too many wrinkles are a sign of loss of collagen and elastin generation of the skin and must be carefully looked into.
- Faster skin ageing problems actually have the ability to increase the risks of external micro-bacterial infections in human body and hence, such issues should not be ignored.
